The sculptures and landscape photographs are derived from the same landscape, such as a wind turbine blade from the desert, Palm Springs in California or Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose in Playa del Rey, Los Angeles.

There is a profound relationship between the seemingly incongruent sculpture and image. The marriage of modified, industrial form and sublime landscape create a striking resonance. Though apparently unrelated the sculpture is in fact derived from and related to landscape in the photograph. The Aqua/Aero dynamic forms are adapted with a biomorphic bent. Together they appear to confound one another’s presence. One expects to find sculpture in landscape not the landscape in the sculpture.
